'Big Plane' Barry does ships too ya know !Unless you're prepared to commit to never building anything that flies bigger than a single engined 1/72 this 'Ship Barry' nickname could cause chaos .

Maybe the first to build an Ekranoplane ( Soviet Caspian Sea Monster ship that flies a little bit over the water surface) can retain the name ' Barry 'while the other becomes ' Barry 2 '...

Ok , maybe not , shouldn't post when groggy with a mild man flu ... :-)

Have a good time today lads , I hope Vinny gets reunited with his Airfix Mag ,it would be a shame if Philip had to administer a polygraph lie detector test at D4 . For the record it wasn't me .

Fun meeting today - 15 members in attendance. We had a chat about D4, including the competition, and Pat was able to confirm a number of judges for this competition. Some
announcements were made regarding the show, the kitswop and, of course, models for the Dublin Chapter table.

Then there were some models on display on the table - mostly WIP's. But less than usual - maybe some are hiding their products as time comes up to D4, to hide them from the competition.... :-"

I will post up some photos of these later.

Vincent also gave an impromptu demonstration of his little 1/72nd Spitfire, with motorised prop. He may give us a demo in November on how to do this.

But the star of the day/show was our new branded club polo shirts, which were available for sale and which were modelled by Joe, our fashionista..... ;)

It seems to have worked too, as eight shirts were purchased, and two others reserved.

Re post 741.

Well now sweety, you can call me Susan if it make you feel any better,
But all others can stick to Ship Barry!

So you like Sea Monsters!?
Maybe you should consider a mermaid for the upcoming group build..... :D

As promised, here are some shots of some of the models on the table. I missed Sean's big modern wheels AFV, unfortunately, as he had to go early. However, it is well represented in its own thread on the forum.

This is Joe Moran's collection:

Two Fokkers in 1/72nd and one in 1/144th (complete with rigging!), as well as the almost finished French bomber in SCW colours (republicans).

Maurice came along with this beautifully finished Airfix Defiant in 1/72nd scale:-

I came along with three kits, which are in the last stages of finishing, and hopefully will be ready in time for D4.

A 1/48th Bf 109 in SCW colours (Legion Condor):-

A Stuka (Ju 87 A), also in SCW colours:-

And a racer - the "last of the many" Hurricane, in 1/72nd. This was flown by Group Captain Townsend, on behalf of Princess Margaret, at the King's Cup Race in 1950.

(As you can see, this one had a mishap on the table as I was picking it up - rudder came off. Some very carefully applied Tamiya Extra Thin will be needed later today....)

As I mentioned above, Vincent brought along a little 1/72nd Spifire with moving prop. You can see it here in a general shot of one of the tables:-

The shot also shows Pat's excellent tank on a base.

Vincent also gave us a little talk on how he did it, to a rapt audience:-

Arising from the last meeting, we had a table (actually two chairs), where folks brought along items which they were giving away. Here is Joe reminding the attendance that some remained to be taken away:-

(and you can see Joe modelling the branded club polo shirt in this photo too - I have put a more detailed shot of the shirt over on the specific thread for the shirts)

And here is a general shot of the folks in attendance:-

That's all folks - the next get-together will, of course, be at D4. Next meeting of the Dublin Chapter will be in October.

The next three dates for the Dublin Chapter meetings (all in the Lab in Foley Street) are:-

Saturday 24th October

Saturday 21st November

Saturday 19th December

In all cases, times are 11 am till 1 pm (though it is quite likely that the December meeting will segue
into a visit to a nearby hostelry for some pre-Christmas drinks/food, as has become traditional. B-) )

The changes in dates from the 3rd saturdays in October and November were to give a bit of time for people to
recover from other events (ie. D4 and Telford), and to have new kits/models to show.

Many thanks to Pat (parkadge) for organising/booking these.

Jeez , when I read that I actually thought for a minute Vinny was using overly affectionate language towards Pat ( or Barry , or both?)rather than a polite version of another S word .
I wasn't quite sure whether to be shocked or jealous ! :-)
( This low GI , no crap , no gluten Paleo/Atkins diet I'm on has me brain fried !)
