The diorama will be a collaborative effort by Pat, Pete/Manxman and I. The vehicles are just for scale effect. It will be a current day Afgan street scene with MRAPs and civvy vehicles and figures.

What was done looked great .Intricate stonework ( or even 'mosaics'?) on mosque(?) should be lovely and those slat / bar armour vehicles look cool , ('fiddly' but 'butch') a pair of them should be very imposing even on a relatively big base . I guess if the figures are good it will tie it all together beautifully .Are you going for a sparsely ( human) populated scene or a 'busy' street ? (Just combatants or also civilians?Dont Minart do a good set with Dad , Mum and a kid or two ?) ) Tarmac 'road' or churned up concrete with loose blocks from ruins etc all over the place ?Anyway you've 'hit the ground running ' lads .Has anyone ever won the International Club Display two years running ? No pressure :-)

Oh, I see you're doing civilian vehicles .Merc , BMW or pickup truck ?

Much yet to be decided John but there will be a couple of M-ATVs and at least one civilian vehicle. Lots of figures both military and civilian. At the moment we'retrying to figure out how much we can fit, the exact "what" is TBD.
Probably a calm street sceane but with a hint of something about to kick off.

I decided rather than wait the 40 minutes for the train ( not enough time to make it round to any of the model shops ) to walk home to Leixlip .
Good call. Imagine the look on the faces of those who decided to wait 40 minutes at the train station when they realised they could have walked home in a mere 3 1/4 hours. Suckers!

REMINDER

The last Dublin Chapter meeting of the year will be coming up next Saturday, December 19th at 11 am in the Lab in Foley Street.

Many of us will be going on afterwards to a nearby hostelry for a drink and/or some food. :choco:

All are welcome (including any members from out of town who may be visiting Dublin that day). B-)

Suggestion, from one of our number last month, was the Bon Crubeen.

Change in plans for me - I won't be able to make the lunch, but will be at the meeting.

Should have said that the Bon Crubeen is on Talbot street, just up from the Gardiner street junction in the direction of O'Connell Street.

FREEBIES ! Would far prefer have a recipient lined up for these as I may not want to haul them from venue to venue tommorow .Shout now and they're definitely yours .

Battlestar Galactica DVD Box Set Season 1-4 ( 20 disc)

Bundle of three or four paperbacks on British land / SAS / 'elite troops' involvement in Iraq ( and Afghanistan) , one by Mark Urban

Also if anyone would be keen to try out KLEAR and could bring along their own ( smallish well sealed) container I might bring in some and split it up . It's super economical .You could probably varnish a medium plane with half a thimbleful .A mustard Jar full would probably last an average modeller years . ( Dunnes Blanch is only stockist and it's in a new bottle now / looks and smells same but hey there are people will pay champagne money for the original formula on EBay )

Will try check here 930am latest in morning .( Definitely 11/12 tonight) Fairest to keep it on thread rather than PMs

John, if nobody else want them I'll take a book or two off you. :)

And on the Klear, Dunnes in Cavan has it as that where I got mine and huge bottle and barely even touched it as you say goes miles.
