Good meeting today with a lot in attendance by the end. I didn't get any pictures of the demo Mark did (thanks Mark, great demo) but did take pictures of most of the models on display.

I'll need someone to help me out with the names and models though.

No worries, Graham. I managed to take a few pics of Mark's very excellent demo, which I will load up later today. Thanks for the pics of the models table.

23 in attendance at the meeting - apart from Steve Munsell's going away session , I think that's a record.

Congrats and thanks to Mark for the demo - most useful indeed! :>

Hi, first want to thank John for my books and picking up the micro solutions for me. Mark for an excellent Demo, and might have to light the next plane or sci-Fi I do.

As for the models well starting top to bottom, updated

The out of focus tumbler (bat mobile) was mine.
Next was Maurice lovely camo wingy thing :) 555, sorry I'm not that good with type.
The void bomber was again mine, as was the out of focus Zubr Hovercraft and WiP Cougar HEV.
The excellent almost finished Buffalo was of course Sean's.
And I'm sorry but I don't know who the last euro fighter belonged to.

For me a great second meeting and really hope to make more than two next year. :)

Nope - the Arado Ar E555 in 1/72nd was not mine - nice though!

Yep, the 555 is mine. John, it was airbrushed, expo make, laid down base coat and then went mad with "squiggles" used 2 colours just once with each. Don't know dilution, just diluted till it felt right, about 15psi.

Maurice a reviewer describes Revell E555 as " a true joy to build" would you agree or is that a ( slight) exaggeration .No weak points in otherwise perfect kits as can happen with Revell ?( eg canopy on 1/72 P51B ( and 109G10?in BOTH 1/72 and 1/48?)

Overall have to agree, went together very well, very little filling or sanding. One thing only from the instructions it looks like you glue engines together and then add intakes and exhausts. WRONG glue them on first or you will have serious trouble fitting them. Also add more weight to front than they say otherwise you will have a "tail sitter".

Guys,

The dates for the Dublin Chapter meetings for the next six months have now been confirmed. They are as follows:-

Saturday January 9th (11 am till 1 pm)

Saturday February 20th (11 am till 1 pm)

Saturday March 26th (11 am till 4 pm)

Saturday April 16th (11 am till 1 pm)

Saturday May 21st (11 am till 1 pm)

Saturday June 18th (11 am till 1 pm).

In all cases, the venue is The Lab, in Foley Street. Many thanks to Pat (Parkadge) for doing the bookings. :>

The January meeting will include a demo on how to join the forum, and how to post up photographs onto the forum. Other demos are planned for other meetings as well.

We are going for the longer meeting in March, so we can have a detailed session on airbrushing and other painting techniques, as this was a request from some of the members during the year

Good to see all those dates locked in. I really like the sound of the airbrushing / painting demo but unfortunatley I'm away for the easter weekend.

Thanks, Graham.

Unfortunately, those were the dates we could get - hence the rather earlier start in January than usual.

In the case of March, it was a choice between the Paddy's weekend or the Easter weekend, and we opted for the latter, on the basis that more folks would be likely to be free the latter weekend.

I have finally got round to loading up some shots of Mark's talk/demo at the last Dublin Chapter meeting
(as promised in my post of 20th December, but Christmas got in the way!)

Here is Mark, in full flow, with various electrical / electronic bits on the table in front of him...

Incidentally, you can also see on the table some copies of Mark's notes, which he distributed, explaining the key electronic concepts that we modellers would need to know.
(If anyone wants a copy, send me a PM, with your e-mail address, and I will send it on to you as a PDF attachment)

Many thanks, Mark, for an excellent talk/demo.

Here are a couple of shots of those in attendance as Mark was talking:-

You can also see, on the table to the side, the various Airfix kits that Barry had got for us all, during the Black Friday event.
Thanks, Barry. :>
