Looks like it was a good meeting. Plenty of diversity of models on show. Sorry I missed it.

Well, as promised, some photos of the models and other items on the table. (I know Dermot took some crowd shots, so perhaps he will put them up later).

Jason brought along his 1/24th scale Spitfire. Here it is, with a euro coin to give a sense of scale

Posted Image

At the other end of the scales, Barry brought back his U-boat in dock.

Posted Image

(He said that he had populated the diorama with people. I have to admit that I couldn't see them, but they are there, as you can see in this (macro) photograph)

Barry also brought back his Spanish Civil War naval diorama, again (so he said) populated with figures. These I couldn't see, and nor could even my macro setting....

Luckily, Michael had come with his new Optivisor thingy, which allows one to view up to 5 x magnification, with an LED light.

Pat tried it on, and sure enough, the little sailors could be seen on Barry's ships

Posted Image

Yes, they are there....

Posted Image

Back on dry land, Sean's vehicle (cougar?) was looking well

Posted Image

We had a little debate among a few of us as to whether the huge amount of time that we spend detailing the interiors of vehicles (and cockpits of planes)
is really necessary when you can see little or nothing after the piece is closed up. The response, of course, is that "well, I know that it's there". So Sean
took off the turret and, sure enough, the interior WAS fully detailed:-

Posted Image

Of course, if the models are photographed and posted as works in progress on our forum - whether under the subject headings or in a group build - then
all of us forum users will also know that they are there! (But as one person said - I think it was Barry - he was more interested using his time modelling
than taking photos and then wrestling with Photobucket in order to put the photos up on the forum....I know what he means, as this post has taken
upwards of an hour!)

Barry has been busy, because as well as the two ships, he had other models in progress for us to see.

This little UN armoured car:-

and this MTM:-

Des came along with his finished gekko (which looks just as well in the flesh as on the photos that he had already put up).

Posted Image

The markings are not decals, they are painted on....

Posted Image

And the interior is fully detailed:-

Posted Image

Pat brought along his Whippet tank, from the 1916 and Struggle for Independence group build:-

Posted Image

Lovely weathering, Pat :>

Posted Image

Back to wingy things, there was this marvellous "tiger meet" job with decals...

Posted Image

And there were some works in progress from recent Airfix kits. Graham's Kate:-

Posted Image

Posted Image

(Another fully detailed cockpit, most of which will be hidden (but then, we will all know that this lovely work is there))

And the new Airfix Beaufighter, which I understand, from reviews, is a cracking kit. Looking forward to seeing this one done, Michael :>

That's my lot of photographs.

Unfortunately, I was so busy chatting with folks that I missed Tony's WIP on HMS Dreadnought, which he had
packed away by the time I took out the camera. If anyone else has shots of that, please put them up (Dermot??)

Cheers,

Philip

EDIT August 2017 - replacing photos due to Photobucket meltdown

Where? I don't think he said, but I'm pretty sure he said it was a Trumpeter display case

Well remembered Sean,
Yes, they are Trumpy.. Masterbox is the name on the box, come in all shapes
and sizes within reason, ideal for my kind of work.
Also, relatively cheap, I think they are good value for money.👍

REMINDER

There will not be any Dublin Chapter meetings this month, in view of the fact that D5 is coming up next weekend.

The next Dublin Chapter meeting is scheduled for 26th November, in the Lab from 11 am till 1 pm. (This will allow us one weekend to recover from Telford, which is on 12th/13th November).

Reminder...again.

I have been contacted by a couple of folks, asking whether we are getting together this coming Saturday.....

No, there won't be a meeting in October. We have just had D5 in Dublin this month. :-"

As stated above, the next meeting will be on Saturday 26th November.

In the meantime, why not try a little modelling..... ;)
