So the last Dublin branch meeting is this Saturday from 11:00 to 13:00. Who is going to make it and are there any plans for the usual annual lunch (may not be needed given the amount of food at recent meetings) followed by a tour of the local model shops?
Yep - the usual for me! Lunch (with some liquid), followed by a visit to a modelling emporium ( or two)

Some photos of yesterday's Dublin Chapter meeting, which was attended by 15 club members.

There was the usual table of kits, though a little depleted as many had decided to come in by public transport instead of car:-

However, Joe Moran had brought in some biccies:-

Pat (who was on a fleeting visit as he had to be on stage in Bewley's Theatre in the Powerscourt Centre by 1 pm for his one man show of Bang Bang), organised a card
for us all to sign, for the Dublin Arts Officer who kindly accepts that we are artists and lets us hire the room each month....

Posted Image
[Tickets are still available on line for the show for next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday]

Among the models was Pete's stunner of a 1/16th scale military vehicle (you can see it in the first photo above), and also this little Japanese vehicle:-

Posted Image

There was also Joe's entry in the recent group build (a biplane, of course, but with floats), as well as one of the many 1/144th scale kits that he got in Telford:-

Posted Image

And there was this beautifully finished and weathered Bf 108 Taifun by Des:-

Posted Image

Des also brought along his amazing circle cutter, which he allowed us to try out. Pete was able to get very small circles for the latches on the seatbelts for his large vehicle.

Posted Image
[Des, can you give us a link to the retailer for this circle cutter, please...I suspect that a number of us might be in the market for one.]

Barry came away with some very large (1/32nd scale) kits - that should keep him busy over the holidays!

Posted Image

Afterwards, some of the guys went off but eight of us continued the Dublin Chapter's tradition of a bit of pre-Christmas food (and drink) in the Bon Crubeen on Talbot Street:-

Posted Image

I had to go after that, to catch my bus home, but I understand that there were visits to Marks Models...and even Walshie (??)

Have a happy modelling Christmas, folks!

Philip

All the 2018 dates for Dublin meet-ups are now in the diary and listed on page 1 of this thread - usual time (11am-1pm) and usual location (Lab on Foley Street).

Hope to see you there soon.

That's great, Dermot

A quick "thank you" to Pat McGrath (Parkadge) for organising the bookings for the Dublin Chapter meetings so efficiently.

All club members will have got an e-mail from myself this morning, with an attachment giving the list of meetings, which they can download and put up in their den/modelling room..
