Was it last month or this was ‘sales event’ ? Don’t want to turn up with a stack of items if .a general/‘ordinary ‘ meeting.
There's regularly stuff on offer so feel free to bring 'em along.

Here are some photographs of the last meeting, as promised:-

As noted above, even though a number of the regulars couldn't make it this month, there was a good attendance:

Posted Image

As usual, a wealth of models were on display for us to chat about and admire:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Pete brought along is super duper luxury brand airbrush:-

Posted Image
(nice one Pete!)

Marco had a tank, with a fully detailed interior...

Posted Image
(Great work there - pity you won't be able to see it unless you take your tank-top off!!)

There were other tanks, too, including this little one:

Posted Image

I told you it was little!

Posted Image

Other targets on view including this fine vehicle:

Posted Image
(No, I don't know what it is, but Sean M will no doubt be able to tell me!)

There were some aircraft as well...

This Spitfire (from the recesses of Glen's attic, he said)

Posted Image

This more modern fighter

Posted Image

And this wild cat fish W I P by Ronan:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Ronan also brought along a recent purchase, this racing GeeBee.

Posted Image
(Good luck with those wing decals, Ronan!)

Glen had also brought along some dioramas from his attic

Posted Image

and this, most appropriate at the 100th anniversary:

Posted Image

Meanwhile, out at sea, further progress was reported on a certain pirate ship..

Posted Image
(All together now........AAAAR)

I will finish this post, as I am coming to the end of my photo limit. My next post will showcase what must be the highlight of the meeting - another ship.

This model was, for me, the star of the meeting.

Barry had brought along his model of the Kerlogue, a completely scratch-built ship, but now placed within a watery diorama.....

Posted Image

This really tested the macro setting on my little camera.

Barry told us that the ship in question was famous for rescuing survivors from a downed U-boat in the stormy Bay of Biscay. He stated
that he had managed to show the sailors in their little lifeboats within the diorama.

Of course, we had to see if his claims were true!

Can you see them, Ray? How about you, Graham?

Posted Image

Maybe it will be easier with glasses.....or without them...

Posted Image

So I went in for a closer look....with my camera that is (as I couldn't see them, with or without glasses!)

And sure enough, they were there....
Posted Image

Yes, there they really are....
Posted Image

And apparently there is a rope running from the sailors on the ship to the sailors in the sea...can you see it??
Posted Image

Hope that model, Barry, will be at the IMSS show next week (as well as at the NIMA show in June and our own show in October).

(But the judges are going to need very strong glasses..... :-" )

Yeah it was another great meeting with loads of great models and wip on display and some even being worked on during the course of the meeting.

Next Meeting on the 19th May we are hoping to put on the Annual Airbrush Basics Demo and workshop. This should cover things like airbrush maintenance, basic use, etc and a chance to get hands on for those that haven't had the opportunity yet to get themselves set-up. And its a good refresher for those of us already airbrushing on some important do's and don'ts.

Yes - Pete is correct. I have just confirmed with Vincent (Murfv), and both of us will be bringing in our airbrushes for folks to try out, together with some sacrificial victims (ie 109's from last year). Pete - you could bring in your super duper luxury one too.....

Great photos Philip!

The Gee Bee kit comes with masks for the wings to spray on the markings, which will be a lot easier than trying to decal them!

Just a quick reminder to everyone that the Dublin meeting is on this Saturday 19th May in the LAB on Foley street 11am-1.

This month we have our annual Airbrush Basic Demo and Workshop. A good refresher for those already airbrushing with some nice handy do's and don'ts but an excellent opportunity for those not yet with an airbrush to have have a go and see what all the fuss is about.

There will also be the usual show and tell with Models (complete, wip or just bought)

See you all there.

Good fun today at the Dublin Chapter meeting - Vincent and I brought along our airbrush set-ups, including compressors, airbrushes, paints, cleaners, thinners and sacrificial victims (three Bf 109's and a Typhoon). We did a short demo, and then left them for members to try them out, which indeed they did...

Meanwhile, there was an extensive display of models made or in progress (which for once I didn't get to photograph), so hopefully others can post up photos.

The June Dublin Chapter meeting will include Joe Moran's famous modellers' Quiz. You have been warned... (actually it is good fun... and you don't need to know the name of WW1 U boat captains!)

Reminder that this Saturday will be the annual Modelling quiz at the Dublin meeting run by our very own Quiz Master Joe "Strings" Moran.

Along with the usual models on display and modelling talk a meeting not to be missed. Sadly I will miss it as again I'll be out at another football tournament :(
