The Rafa was a beaut, espcially when you heard the tale of woe with the decals. Nice, nice cans and a lovely Tiger meet scheme. |

Folks Just got word from the Exchange this afternoon - the date we had in mind (23rd) isn't free, so we have a choice of Saturday 16th or Saturday 30th. I have sent an e-mail round to the "regulars". If you get one, I'd be most grateful if you could send a reply e-mail to me, giving your preference between the two. If I missed you out, and you didn't get an e-mail from me, then please PM me with your preferred date. (9th isn't free either, unfortunately). Thanks, Philip |

Hi Philip, Cannot make the 16th meeting will be away celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary. No jokes please! I know that I could have committed murder twice, at least, and be free. The next date is a very long weekend over Easter. Realistically how many people will be available, I am doubtful at the moment. Would we not be better off and go for Saturday the 6th of April? Another thought couple of thoughts for the meeting. Most meeting at the moment have a demo attached. I know that not everyone can make each meeting, could be perhaps we have a second demo of the same thing. Sort of a refresher for those who were there and for those who missed out first time. This could be handy refesher as it may be some time from the original demo before you try it out! Secondly would there be an interest in a short talk on various subjects that we have all come in touch with thro' our modelling. I started off making all sorts of aircraft and now concentrate on WW1 models. I have researched or have references on most WW1 aircraft and woud be prepared to give a short talk on any WW1 aircraft, its history, manufacture, upgrades etc. I have used the Commonwealth War Graves records to have articles published on some topics, and have researched the German Jasta Claims records for most of their 100 thereabouts Jastas. I'm sure that other members have done the same on other topics, as an example Pat comes to mind on armour and related topics. Anyway just some ramblings. Be interested to see what the other members thought. Joe |

Thanks, Joe, for the comment, and congratulations on lasting so long..... On the dates thing - that's why I sent on an e-mail to everyone with the choice of dates. I do appreciate that not everyone is free with one or other of the two dates available ot us, but I'd like, if at all possible, to have a meeting a month, rather than miss a month. I have received 8 replies thus far - 6 of them are going for the 30th and 2 for the 16th, and then there is your own... I will wait another couple of days to see, but right now it's looking like we will be going for the 30th.... Hopefully, normal service will resume in April. Good point about the demos. And thanks for the offer - looks like you have done a LOT of research in your chosen area. You never know, you might get some of us to go to the "early side", what with sticks and strings etc. Next demo is planned by Mark on the making of bases. With the IMSS show coming up in May, that's something we all need to know, as they like bases there! Philip |

DECISION MADE! Thanks to all those who responded as to their preferences between the 16th and the 30th. The majority, by a considerable margin, have opted for the 30th. So that's what is now booked. Therefore:- The next meeting will be in the Exchange on Saturday 30th March from 11 am till 1 pm. (We can all go on afterwards to buy some more for our stash, or even some Easter eggs!) Philip |

Looks like I will make it after all. Will be travelling light as only in the middle of a few projects so nothing really finished. Joe |

Sorry we will miss you, Barry, Vincent and Simon. Mark has promised a detailed presentation on making bases, so it should be a good 'un. Times are from 11 am till 1 pm. (I have checked with the lads in the Exchange, and there is a fitness class before us at 10, so no need to pick up the key this afternoon). After 1 pm, some of us then plan to go down the quays, to drop in to Forbidden Planet (to see what sci-fi kits they have) and then on to Marks to drop in on Simon. Happy Easter all! Philip |

What with it being Easter Sunday a report on the Dublin meeting yesterday will probably be slow in arriving; I'm sure many Dublin members are currently contending with sugar-high kids at the moment. As I'm not burdened as such ( ) I can at least give a small written report with the pictures that make this topic so lively. They'll appear sooner or later.Despite the time of the month it was quite a busy meeting yesterday with between twelve and fifteen members in attendance which is about average for Dublin now. A whole rake of models were on display covering aircraft, armour and sci-fi. We were given an interesting demonstration on how to make plaster cast bases from Mark which proved to be far easier than expected. We also received a short demonstration from Value Gear Steve on his new sci-fi crates which look fantastic. Plans are in motion to organise a Dublin branch trip to Baldonnel to see the museum, a transport museum in Leitrim and also to travel up North to Long Kesh for the Ulster Aviation Society Open Day where we're also hoping to book a display table. We're also making plans to book a display table at a few of the model railway shows held in the Dublin area over the summer. Finally the official poster for D2, the IPMS Ireland Nationals, was unveiled and should be spreading out to model shops, internet forums and some publications very soon, as well as our own website. |
