Illness, work commitments and early holiday season took its tool on attendance during Mid-West Branch last meeting, nonetheless it was business as usual. We had 3 seniors and 3 junior members in attendance, which proved to be the perfect ratio for one to one tutorials, when seasoned members were looking after future of Irish scale modelling, passing their know-how and knowledge gained by doing so many mistakes. As is the, now well established, tradition of Mid-West Branch, quality over quantity and practical, hands on approach instead of theory lessons are what we are focusing on during our meetings. It has been mentioned previously, thanks to commitment and dedication of our members, we have 2 airbrush/compressor combos to our members disposal and we are trying to take advantage of this whenever we can... So, while Lindsay was looking after Aron and his rake of 1:72 scale aircraft, such as Hurricane, Mustang and P-47 ![]() Alan and Mat were busy getting some serious power-lift ready to 1:72 scale Boeing 777 ![]() while Filip was looking after Samek doing some weathering on his M-3 Lee ![]()

We will be going to Dublin on Sunday 7th to see IMSS show and May meeting will slip to 2nd Saturday of the Month, that's 13th of May. June meeting, will be delayed as well, due to our trip to St.Nazaire and Saumur and it should be held, yet again, on 2nd Saturday of the Month, 10th of June. |

..so we are hoping, Joe. There will be model show, as mentioned before and tanks will get their run around the yard during the weekend as well. How many times one can see Tiger or Panther - or some Leopard or Leclerc doing their rounds? Unfortunately we have been let down by AerLingus, who decided to cancel our booked return flight on selected day, thus cutting our weekend short ![]() Edited by FiSe, Apr 11 2017, 01:53 PM.

This might not be modelling related post, but as it, directly, concerns certain Mid-West Branch member and, as we, here in Mid-West believe, local Branch is not only about once a month meetings, here it goes... I have been asked to extend invitation to a book launch written by my better half: ![]() It's her first novel and already getting 5-star reviews all over the respectable places. The event will take place on Thursday 27th of April from 6-7.30 PM in Hunt's Museum in Limerick and anyone who can make it is more than welcome On a second thought, we could discuss details of our Dublin trip to the IMSS gig on that event, so a bit of modelling related stuff could be thrown in after all....and before you ask, yes, I've read it - only this week

Now, quickly back to the IMSS Show weekend in Dublin. Mid-West Branch members entered, altogether, 12 models to various classes of the competition and brought home 7 awards of all kinds. 5 medals and 2 'Commended'. Well done to all, Mid-West might not be the biggest branch, nonetheless, it is a very successful one indeed. Mid-West Sunday crew in Hilton as pictured at the very end of the show:

Well, Bon Voyage to all who are taking part in Mid-West Branch trip to Saint Nazaire U-boots pens and Saumur Tank Museum model and armour show this weekend. Have a good one, guys! ...and take plenty of photos for those, who can't be there Polish Scouting Association in Shannon is organizing their Family Day this Sunday, 4th of June, in Family Resource Centre in Shannon. Some of the Mid-West Branch members left behind will be taking part with some of their models, promoting Branch, club and upcoming Modelling Munster event. I think, this is a great opportunity to reach younger generation, hopefully, we'll see more juniors attending our meetings in the forthcoming months. Next meeting of Mid-West Branch of IPMS Ireland is scheduled for Saturday, 10th of June, 2PM at the usual venue- Atlantic Airventure Centre and Museum in Shannon. |

Almost every member and associate of Mid-West Branch kept busy this June Bank Holiday weekend, as mentioned in a few previous posts already, some of our members were taking part in trip to France and some of those, who couldn't make it, were busy on Sunday, showing their modelling skills to younger generation during Polish Scouting Association Family Day in Shannon. It was pleasant afternoon with plenty of interest from the visitors, both young and more mature, good food, tea and coffee being pushed at us from all sides and we had very interesting discussions during those few hours on various subjects. Even the weather held off for most of the time, with rain coming down only in the last 45 minutes of the event. Having a scale model exhibition in a tent? Why not...surprisingly bright and secure place to display some bits of plastic: ![]() ![]()
