No photos, again, but we had a great time last weekend on Atlantic Airventure Open Day. There was a plenty to see and even though the venue is aviation themed, there was strong presence from MVCI folks, so plenty of military vehicles and hardware could be seen on display outdoors as well as some vintage cars. We've met Erik - do you remember his Walrus and Finnish Hurri dioramas? - who was there with his HD as a part of the MVCI team and we had a nice air themed display in the 'glasshouse' with a plenty of interest from streaming in visitors. If we throw in a few air displays, open cockpits on Buccaneer and Vampire, new Jag and Lightning II front sections, Ice cream van, live swingy - jazzy trio and a nice weather, we can say that this was the perfect Sunday. Next meeting of Limerick / Shannon Branch is scheduled on the 1st Saturday of September the 7th, in usual 14.00 hours in the usual venue - Atlantic Airventure Centre Shannon. We have some club business to go through and I am hoping that we can do dry pastels and wood making demos as well. Everybody welcome from near or far, members or non-members, young or old Edited by FiSe, Sep 1 2013, 06:11 PM.

To all Limerick / Shannon Branch members...as discussed on our last meeting, I have ordered 25kg bag of casting plaster to get a 'few' more universal bases done for our Branch display table. If anyone is interested to give me a hand, don't be shy, we can organise some small, day long manufacturing venture in my workshop. drop me an email or text or a bell and we can get the ball rolling. Nationals are just around the corner. |

And another quick one... Just had a phone conversation with organisers of Limerick Diecast Show - and Punchestown Model and Hobby Show. the result is that I have booked 8ft table on Limerick Show for this Sunday. The show itself is held in South Court Hotel in Raheen on Sunday from 10 till 18-ish and I will be there for the day with my models promoting our own Branch event in December - Modelling Munster. It's a very short notice and I am aware that there's quite a lot going on this weekend, but if you are around and if you feel like to get yourself dragged into bit of a PR work, then pop in during the day for a while. BTW I have changed my phone recently and have lost phone numbers to all the new members, well new since 2012, Colin, Gochan, Christy, so if you are reading this, please drop me a txt to 08seven 92 three3 035, so we can keep in touch. Thanks a lot |

As announced above... I went to the South Court Hotel to do a bit of promotional work for our December Modelling Munster show and I was pushing all the info about this show and our Club and Branch to any slightly interested person. Not as easy task as it might seems, between the crowd of die-cast farmers, but plenty of interest in the table nevertheless. The show itself was typical die-cast show as we know it, busy since 10AM till roughly 4.30PM, with plenty of visitors pouring through the door. Majority of exhibitors and traders are doing the weekend rounds between similar shows all over the country and some of the sellers expressed interest in trading in Shannon. Not bad, I think, but we’ll see after ‘cooling-off period’. Our exhibition was small, but, in my humble opinion professionally looking and some of the eagle-eyed between yis could see my old, well travelled models, with badly applied matt varnish and layer of dust: ![]() Good show, good results and thanks to Danny, who popped in for a while to give me a bit of break from the stall duty. See yis all in 2 weeks time on our regular Branch meeting.

The next regular meeting of Limerick / Shannon Branch is scheduled for this Saturday 5th of October at 14.00, at the usual venue – Atlantic Airventure Centre Shannon. This is the last meeting before our upcoming nationals in Dublin and we'll be discussing and planning our Branch display and members attendance on this event amongst the usual model talk. We have plenty of room in the cars, so if you wish to enter the competition, but you will not make it for Saturday, please, bring filled-up entry forms and boxed models and we can arrange transport in and out and all the other stuff. Everybody welcome and see yis all on Saturday in Shannon |

This year's Nationals are gone, done and dusted and it's time to recap success of our Branch members. Apart from well laid Branch exhibition and quality of models on the table, our members brought home some metal and glass as well... From what I remember, Lindsay took 3 bronzes, Filip 1 silver and IPMS IRL Trophy for Best Irish Themed Subject, Hamilton Boys were doing really well and they brought home 1 bronze for Colin in dioramas and one of gold, silver and bronze for David and Paul, can't remember who got which though. Alan decided to rework his magnificent 1:48 Lancaster and he's collected masks for the insignia already, so this will be the one to watch for on Modelling Munster in December. Overall, we had a good time it was nice to meet members from other branches and modellers from other clubs and countries and to see their models and styles on the tables. Very good event and we are already looking to the next one. Our next regular meeting will be on the 2nd of November, but I'll get back to it closer to the time. |

As mentioned in previous post, next meeting of limerick / Shannon Branch of IPMS Ireland is scheduled on Saturday 2nd of November at 2.PM in Atlantic Airventure Centre Shannon. Time is running very fast and this is the last opportunity to root through traders attending SMW in Telford and get order ready and we have some details to go through for our December Modelling Munster Show. We'll be looking back to our October Nationals in Dublin as well as... And the usual and essential model talk doesn't have to be mentioned at this stage, I think. Everybody welcome and I am hoping to see you there |

Last official meeting of Limerick / Shannon Branch of 2013 is scheduled on Saturday 7th of December at 2.PM in Atlantic Airventure Centre Shannon. It will be a busy one, once again as we have a lot of things to go through with our Modelling Munster event following weekend, so we should get some details sorted. We will be setting up the venue for Modelling Munster on Saturday 14th of December and we will confirm the time and what's needed for the show during the meeting. And as this is the last meeting of the year, we should have a quick vote on the chairman of the branch, not that I would be resigning, just thinking that there should be internal annual vote on this post and a bit of discussion about the work we have done in the year and where we are heading to as a branch in 2014. Just to make sure that everybody's happy and that the wheels will be rolling as good as in 2013. |

9 people in attendance on today's meeting and we have a lot to go through, from Telford 2013 presentation to working vacuum engine and plans for next weekend. Busy meeting, with more coming up later. For now the most important part for organising members of Modelling Munster 2013: - Setting up will be on at Saturday 14th from 2PM-ish, you can bring your competition entry on Saturday and we can have dry run of entry procedures for Sunday - Sunday should start at 9.15 - 9.30 at the latest, to allow for some last minute adjustments, traders set-up and some early bird coffee Only one week to go and I am hoping to it see yis there |

Next meeting - the 1st of 2014 - of Limerick / Shannon Branch is scheduled on Saturday, 4th of January, 2PM at Atlantic Airventure Centre in Shannon. I think that we should have a quick chat about our 1st IPMS IRL regional competition - Modelling Munster, to see what feedback we have got over the few weeks past this show, to see what can be done to improve this event and generally reflect on the show. Of course, there was Santa visiting the good boys and it would be nice to see some of the presents he left behind - one present in my case , so must be better next year.Modelling projects, work in progress and newly finished models are most welcome as usual. BTW, membership fee for 2014 is due as well, so we can offload some of the cash into Alan's hands at some stage during the meeting. Other than that, I think that we'll take it handy and start the year slowly and easy. Everybody is welcome to pop in See you there |

Hi all, All Limerick / Shannon branch members, I have contact details of, should have an email about it by now, but just in case: We have been invited to attend 'Knavecon', which is smaller version of Garry's war and board gaming event we know from Thomond Park. Knavecon will be held in Killmurry Lodge, Castletroy on Saturday the 1st of March from 10 AM. This is 3rd year of this event, which is being organised by one of the local gaming groups. I was thinking that we can take our attendance on this event as our regular meeting, although a bit stretched. Personally, I think, that it could be nice to let ourselves, our club and our work known to more 'gaming folk' with the prospect of getting some of them involved in Modelling Munster with their models. |

I was thinking about demo on another basic modelling skill: how to do exhaust stains and oil streaks using dry pastels. Hopefully I'll get some bits of plastic painted for the demo purpose in the next couple of days. |

Due to adverse weather conditions our last meeting has been postponed for a week and we have met on 2nd Saturday instead of the usual 1st. The meeting itself was shorter than usual, we all were trying to get home before the nightfall and before more wind and rain make things complicated again. But we've been up to our usual business, apart from some very quick scheduling of upcoming shows and our projects, we have been messing around with dry pastel, exploring their use and vast possibilities in weathering and general dirtying of our immaculate models. On the aircraft dominated table there was Alan's, yet another, Lancaster in the making and massive Herc in 1/72 scale, still in the box. My own contributions to WWI aviation GB were present as well as Lindsay's venture into the future, or was it future venture? Anyway Star Trek Enterprise kit, should look good when finished. ![]() ...and this is what we've been up to during our demo time. Dry pastels testing panel: streaks, smoke stains, panel wash, oils stains

As announced earlier, our next regular meeting will take place this Saturday, 1st of March, in Killmury Lodge, Castletroy, Limerick, during Knavecon III board gaming event. Where we'll be displaying some of our models and promoting our Club and Branch. The event starts at 10.00AM, so we should be there around that time to get set-up our display and organise ourselves. I think that we'll have roughly 8x4ft space and I will bring raisers with glass shelves for the table so there should be plenty of space to fill. And there's a free coffee all day, so we should be pretty much buzzin' in the afternoon... See yis all there |
