Sounds like a great idea Filip, a good day made even better with the competition being added. Might try to make this one, if I can...

Probably better than in mid-December - should get a greater attendance in August (and it will be warmer!)

It will also allow us to give more publicity to D4, which will be on a month later in Dublin.

Only thing - it is the same weekend as the UAS open day up in Long Kesh - if that goes ahead in 2015. So I imagine you won't get many folks - or traders - from up North.

Still, overall, a good idea.

Thanks for the comments :>

I will let the Airventure folks to be worried about traders, visitors and flying machines. We will focus on the modelling side of things - as we do every year. And as for the Northern visitors...it's a long way to Shannon from there, Philip, we do not expect many visitors from beyond neighbouring counties, not to mention those with 8 hrs journey in total, hardly worth the day trip.

...anyway, it was all aircraft yesterday. I will not post photos of mine current 'Hollywood GB' entry, there's special thread for that, but will post photos of Alan's dirty Spitfire - that's the new 1:48 Airfix kit:

and Liam's even dirtier Latino Mustangs. They are beauties:

...as usual, 1st Saturday of March is approaching fast and it means that the next meeting of Mid-West Branch of IPMS Ireland will be held in Atlantic Air Museum in Shannon, this Saturday, 7th of March around 2PM-ish.

I've been asked to show some rigging demo and I thought that I may throw a bit of copper wire workshop together with the strings, but, as it stands, I am on childminding duties, which means that I will be able to pop in only for a short while, carrying those 2 monkeys with me. I am not sure how productive day that would make for myself, we'll see on the day.

See you there

...and the weeks just flying by, next meeting of Mid-West Branch will be on next weekend, Saturday 4th of April, 14.00-ish Atlantic Airventure Centre Shannon.

I had no chance to do the rigging and copper wire demos last time, so I am hoping to go through those on Saturday, no childminding duties next week, hopefully.
I had no chance uploading photos from last meeting neither and I don't see myself having the time to do so in the next few days, so this will have to wait.

And we should be attending Clare Model and Diorama Show in Ennis the following Sunday - the 12th - so we should be planning that one as well as our trip to IMSS Show in Dublin, which is over the VE 70th anniversary weekend, if I am not mistaken.

So, as usual, bring your new kits, old projects and everything you want to share with fellow modellers and I am hoping to see you there :>

Now...back to work for me

I will have them with me, Liam, no problem.
I'll bring my photo album from Normandy as well, just in case that Danny will be going on the trip he mentioned last time and Collin has been in touch that he has quite a few books to get rid off, so we might relieve him of those.

See you Saturday

Found some time to quickly throw some photos up:

1st batch is from the last meeting, which was on Saturday 7th of March, over all nice and busy afternoon with 9 members in attendance and some nice projects on show as well as some, really, vintage resin kits courtesy of David amongst other things. Those little resin castings originated behind Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia and we are trying to trace down the person responsible for those:

Yesterday's meeting was a bit quieter, nevertheless busy as it can be, lots of model talk, lots of show talk and lots of book talk - and tea, coffee and some buns afterwards:

On our last meeting, somebody has mentioned this little piece on Engineers Week in Shannon Airventure Centre featured on Irish TV. If you don't like traditional Irish music, skip to 16.15 of that feature to see:

Every year, there are a few shows Mid-West Branch of IPMS Ireland is trying to attend. One of those is Die Cast, Model and Diorama Show in Ennis.

We had a token presence only this year due to many other commitments and events in our branch members' lifes, so big thank you to Alan and Lindsay who made a great display and were manning the table for the day:

GREAT interview, Alan.

Filip - thanks for the tip of skipping to the correct section of the video, to avoid the "music" beforehand! I don't think I could have put up with it to get that far otherwise. :(
