Here is a selection of photos from our trip to Telford 2010 - most are from me, but a couple are from other members of the club that were originally shown on the old forum. This was the main group shot, taken by Paul. (one or two - Ian and Danny, as I recall - were missing when we got together for the shot, but this was most of us). ![]() (left to right - myself (Philip Jones), Alan Brislane, Paddy McGannon, Gerry Carville, Vincent Murphy, Lindsey Brislane, Barry Spencer, Filip Servit and Brent Cash) However, it is logical to start from the beginning. As we were exhibitors, it was possible to get in to the halls on the afternoon before the event opened, on the Friday. The place was being set up for the following days. In Hall 3, the tables were being readied for the competition area:- ![]() In another part of the same Hall, an area was cordoned off for the kitswop. (That's Alfie in the yellow shirt). ![]() Back in Hall 2, the traders were bringing in their wares (one had to be wary of the movement of vans):- ![]() Some of the club stands, like ourselves, were busy setting up. Here is one club which was really well organised, with bases all laid out in a coherent pattern, and raised areas, all covered ready to go:- ![]() With a lot of help from Gerry Carville, our own stand was filled with models. Gerry had very kindly provided me with name plates for my own display of Bf 109's, which I managed to line out nicely on the left hand side, in front of some Irish examples that he, and others, had brought along:- ![]() ![]() The Limerick / Shannon contingent also provided much needed variety to the table:- ![]() By early on the Saturday morning, the stand was ready:- ![]() During the weekend, we all took our turns in manning the club table, meeting people and enjoying the chat:- ![]() ![]() ![]() Nearby, in the overseas section, were the IPMS clubs, chapters and branches from around the world. One of our neighbours was IPMS Nederland, which had produced a marvellous themed display on the subject of the Battle of Britain, with co-ordinated bases and posters: ![]() ![]() ![]() This won them a silver prize from the organisers:- ![]() Over in the other halls, things were fairly moving by this stage:- ![]() (photo by Paul) and the entry area was becoming congested:- ![]() (photo from the net) Other clubs had decked out their displays with flags and coverings (like ourselves): ![]() And also with a large variety of models on show from their members:- ![]() My next posts in this thread will focus on the models in the competition. . . As promised, here are some of the photos of models from the competition area (still, perhaps, some inspiration for builds that folks may wish to consider....) ![]() ![]() And this looks familiar for those of us who are following the nightfighter GB:- ![]() As does this:- ![]() Some others ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A Vichy example:- ![]() And, of course (for those of you inclined), some Allied ones:- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and this diorama:- ![]() But there were other things, other than aircraft, like this little train:- ![]() And then for all those Trekkers out there, there was this;- ![]() (Obviously, much the worse for wear from - presumably - a Klingon bird of prey ... Kaaaaaplah) But Gene Rodenberry's opus was not the only sci-fi on view, as evidenced from this example from the "Games workshop" stable:- ![]() and this (from the junior section):- ![]() More photos in due course, (when I can get the damned photobucket 'thingy' to work!).
