Sean You are indeed correct. This is the lovely job done by Ken, which was one of a number that he entrusted to my care on the car journey over to Telford, and back again. I'm happy to say that it made it there and back without any breakages. He had it on show again at the Aviation Fair at ALSAA last Sunday. Philip |

Thank you to Philip for taking the Fouga over to Telfords. If you are going to the next Dublin meeting I can bring it along so you can see it. Ken |

Looks like great weekend. Nice photos, David. As the old photographers adage goes -the best camera is the one you have with you!

Sorry 2 stroke, I don't as to my utter shame, that photo i took on Friday night, After that on Saturday and the little bit of Sunday I was "browsing" all the other displays and traders stands. You don't mean the Dauphin on the Competition area, i am assuming you are referring to the IPMS Ireland display. David |

thanks Paddy, you are correct. I would have had a different story if I had forgotten to bring what I did, as it is I took close on 300 photos. they will appear s l o w l y over the weeks (by the looks of it). I am hoping to have my choice printed and into an album for the memories. David |

David You have 300 photos of SMW!!! Can you put them up on an open thread (or whatever they call it) on photobucket, and provide us a link to it here on the forum? Rather than posting each one here on the forum?/ I'd imagine, however, s l o w l y you do it, that amount of photos might exercise the concern of our mods, while at the same time, many of us would REALLY LOVE to see the photos... Is this a solution??? Philip |

If David is willing to sort through 300 pictures and post them up slowly then, honestly, I'm not going to complain. I always find browsing through pictures on Photobucket to be a pain anyway. |

Nice models, and my phone wouldn't get anyway near that quality. As for weathering, I have so many reference books showing aircraft from ww2 with either no paint at the wing roots or camo part obscured by dirty great soot stripes that I've come to the conclusion that I've been underdoing it if anything, but I guess that at some point they must have been pristine, but not for long. Even EN398 had a few primed panels here and there as ongoing repair, and that was as a wing-co's aircraft. And you should see what the desert could do to a paint job... |

Fair point, Andy, on the weathering. Probably depended on the pace of combat, and the desire of the pilots to get "back into the action" as against the 'erks desire to help their pilots get every last kph or mph out of their planes. There are tales of how the 8th Air force staff polished the wings of their pilots' Mustangs so as to increase their speed.... On the other hand, I have heard, indeed, about how the desert destroyed the surfaces of the planes that were used there. I'd love at some stage to get two models of the same Bf109F, as used in the desert, and see it at the start and end of its career in that theatre. Philip By the way - nice quotation from WH Davies! |
