This years IMSS show will be held on the 25th & 26th of May at Collins Barracks in Dublin. As far as I've been able to ascertain it will be held in the same building as the 2010 show and may be a little tight for space as it was then.

That said holding it at Collins Barracks provides great oportunies to see the excellent museum displays, the reenacters look right at home on the parade ground and, I'm sure, great fun will be had by all.

Traders confirmed for this year include:

  • Friendship Models
  • Paul Walsh Models
  • Name It
  • Marks Models
  • Hawk Miniatures
  • Hobby Shack
  • Sphere Products
  • Irish Transport Books
You can find more information at their website here.

Just a heads up; we have put in a request for a table and we're waiting to hear back. I'll update when I know more.

I can confirm that IPMS Ireland will have a table there - got word from the IMSS Sec, John Schley.

So, if members of the club could contact me please*, we will arrange to have a display of our models on the table, as well as fliers for D2, of course.

You can PM me or send me an e-mail to philipprenton[at]eircom[dot]net

Thanks,

Philip

* the reason you need to contact me is so we can ensure that club members wanting to display their stuff have sufficient space to do so, and won't turn up on the day to find that others have already filled the table with their stuff.... and of course to make sure, on the other hand, that we actually have sufficient stuff to show on the table.

Presumably we're going to need people throughout the weekend keeping an eye on the table and display models. They're usually kids buzzing around and if the show was anything like ALSAA then everyone and their dog is going to try and pick up Don's Aer Lingus airliners. :-/

Any offers of models and bodies, preferably live ones ( :P ), is much appreciated.

I can be there from 10 on the Saturday as I only have to catch the Luas from Abbey Street. I've only, at the moment, really got the Jackal to put on the table though. I can stay throughout Saturday but I won't be able to do Sunday at all.

I know I'm not officially part of the IPMS Ireland but I could certainly bring down some busts for the table if you guys wanted that. (Assuming Collins Barracks is as accesible as its website says it is and I can actually get in to the show!)

Will check plans but I can probably do some hours on the Sunday at the table - presume we'll have room to sit down this year?

Given that the Space is smaller than Dublin Castle I doubt it :)

Walshie told me it's in a different building to 2010 and it should be a single large room, we might get lucky. :P

I'll compliment your Jackal with a Coyote and maybe a Humvee or 2 if I can find one lying around....

I'll be there on the Saturday only but can do a stint at the table.

I've had another bright idea too! Vincent Murphy brought along some old modeling mags last Saturday to the branch meeting. I took any that were left to browse at leisure. I'll bring them along and some of my own old mags and insert a sheet about IPMS Ireland: our website, this forum, regular meetings in Dublin, Limerick/Shannon & Cork, key contact details and of course D2. If we keep them under the table (as there won't be loads) and anyone showing an interest in "coming back" to the hobby gets one free. If there are no objections I'm happy to draft the insert and once approved do the printing. Also, if approved, and anyone has mode free modelling mags to add that would be great.

Great idea about the mags. :>

However, no need to draft an insert sheet. I already have a handout about the club, which is an update of what I had at previous IMSS shows, and it includes a map to the Exchange! I had a similar one at ALSAA last November.

I will also have lots of D2 fliers. Hopefully I will also have a large poster for D2 as well.

But a great idea about the mags. If anyone has mags, apart from Sean, that they don't want, do please bring them along and we can hand them out to likely prospects.

Speaking personally, you're more than welcome. It's always a pleasure to see your stuff, especially your armoured vehicles.

Great Philip, that's good. Can you send it on to me and I'll take care of the printing? If others could let me know if they have spare magazines they are willing to contribute so I have an idea of volume that would help. Just to emphasis this is aimed at the casual visitors to the show who we might encourage back into the hobby and hopefully into our merry little band.

Karl, not sure what the official position is on non-members displaying on the IPMS table, but I'm looking forward to finally meeting in the flesh. I was actually in Collins at the weekend and it seemed very wheel-chair friendly from what I recall, but I'm not sure what part of the place the show is on....it's a very big building!

Thanks for the kind words mate! I might try and bring a a vehicle or maybe a dio with a vehicle- thing is that busts are much easier to transport- stuff on vehicle bases and dios always take up a lot more room in the car. I haven't decided what to actually enter in the IMSS show yet, never mind the IPMS one!

Sean I think we actually met once before, must have been a few shows ago but I remember having a chat with someone called Sean who mentioned being '35th Scale' on Armorama. I could be wrong though, I am awful with names- faces I can remember but names I always end up forgetting or mixing up :'( ! I'm looking forward to seeing you there and the rest of you guys! Has everyone already decided what to enter? I gotta get my ass in gear and get nameplates done for bases!

Depending on what I can get in the car I might throw in some old mags too.

Hi guys, I'm hoping to be at the show in May. As I've not been to it before, I'm not too sure about procedures. I was hoping to bring 4 aircraft along for competition. What I'm not sure about is whether these need to be booked on to the IPMS table? Perhaps someone can advise me. There are two 1:32, One 1:48 & One 1:72, all on bases approx A4 or larger.

I'm also available to help out on the stand on Saturday or Sunday if required.

Look forward to seeing a good number of you there.

Hi Merlin,

If you're entering models into the competition you just need to the IMSS registration desk. The IPMS table is just for us to display our work and represent the club at the show.

Gerry go straight to the competition registration. For non IMSS members It's €10 entry fee for unlimited entries.
