Hey lads... Don't worry, the B-17 References (and extra nose cones) and PE sheet are on the table, along with the old magazines, to be brought along on Sunday. Thanks... J. |

Just back from there... I had only a very quick browse around as I'll be back tomorrow. I will have to take a closer look at that Eduard Hetzer and see again, if I saw the price tag of 78yoyos /!/ right. They are selling for 15 to 20 max nowadays, as the initial hype surrounding this not-so-great-kit is long gone. |

Some photos from the show today. I focused mainly on the moder armour and one or two others that really grabbed my attention. There were a lot of other equally as good models there and I'm sure Philip and others will have more photos before long. http://s213.photobucket.com/user/35th-scale/slideshow/IMSS%202013 |

Pat is absolutely right! That model of Charlie having a fag outside Walshie's shop is by far the most original model of the show - those of us who have been up in Blessington Street know just how true to life that is. Congrats to the perpetrator....he definitely deserves a prize from the judges, not only for the work involved, but also for immortalising a scene that Dublin modellers all know very well...... I have taken a number of photos that will nicely complement Sean (35th scale)'s photos, as mine concentrate on the aircraft while his (not surprisingly(!)) concentrate on things with wheels, tracks and boots......I will put mine up on the forum on Sunday evening, once I get a chance to tackle photobucket again.... A quick "thank you" to those stalwarts from the club who came to man the IPMS table during the day today, and put out models for display - Pat, Ken, Don, Sean (Mullarkey) and Ken (and Karl) take a bow! I do appreciate that others couldn't make it today and I will see them there tomorrow, and I look forward to seeing what they have brought with them...I plan to be there from opening at 10 a.m. By the way - what do you think of the D2 banner (see Sean's photo of our stand).....? Makes us look very professional, I feel, and we had a great opportunity to publicise D2 not only with this, but also with Sean's great idea of putting the D2 poster, and a little blurb about us, in surplus magazines, that were given to each youngster who came along.... The presence of the stand was very useful - I had one new member joining up, promises from two others, and one trader actually ASKING to exhibit at D2. (I plan to talk to all the other traders there tomorrow likewise). A big thanks to John Schley, who very kindly gave us a table at the IMSS show. We will, of course, reciprocate with a table for the IMSS lads at our event on October 12th/13th.... John - congrats for a very good show! Philip |

Yes indeed Pat, Ken, Alan, Lindsey and Filip all won medals and/or commendations, and Gerry won others as well, including ones for his Paddy Finucane diorama and his 109 in 1/48th scale. Good haul for all concerned! Philip |

It was a fantastic show I have to say, it was great seeing works I'd heard about or seen here in the plastic! And it was great to meet all the forum members who came along- I thought the IPMS stand looked really well- the banner was pretty much the first thing you saw on the left as you came into the hall- plus I reckon myself and everybody else mentioned the show later this year to everyone who didn't know! I must say a big thanks to the IMSS guys- they always stage a fantastic show and make you feel very welcome aswell! (Hope nobody got surnburnt...I don't think it has rained the past three IMSS shows ! I guess it might be too much to get sunshine in October but one can hope !)

I think that the 'commended' I got for my Lanc should be equally shared by Philip and Séan - Philip for persuading me to enter it in the first place, after seeing it at a Dublin meeting, and Séan for the generous use of his repair facilities at the show. I had given up on entering it when I collapsed the port undercarriage in transit (those speed bumps at the entrance to Collins Barracks are vicious). Overall I was very happy with my outcome on the day and thought that the IPMS was very well represented at the prize giving - so well done to all society members who entered and won commendations and medals. I thought that the show was very well organised and attended and that the overall standard of entries was very high - higher indeed than a lot of the entries at the Hendon Model Show, which I happened to catch as I was in London last week. My only quibble with the organisation was that there was no time to examine, in detail, the winning entries, as the were almost immediately removed by the entrants after the award ceremony. A small quibble on an otherwise very successful show. Gerry |

Thanks, Gerry, but you were the man who constructed, painted and weathered the model! I just spotted how good it was.... On your last point - it is well made. I think that, at D2, we will try to indicate what wins gold, silver and bronze, and is commended, by putting out slips of paper under the entry cards of the winning models, after the judging is over on the Saturday, so that people who want to photograph them will be able to do so on the Sunday morning before the prize-giving at lunchtime. I organised something similar at the Cork Nationals back in 2010 and in Swords in 2011. Of course, this does lose a bit of the suspense, but we can keep the major Awards secret until the prizegiving takes place.....As far as I know, they do this also at Telford. (Perhaps those of you on the forum that managed to win prizes at Telford could let the rest of us know on this point......) We have decided to have the prizegiving a little earlier in October, so as to facilitate those travelling longer distances. The prizegiving at lunchtime on the Sunday means that they can remove their models at 2.30, rather than having to wait till 4pm before they can go. Karl - delighted to have met you, and many thanks for bringing those two busts to help grace our table. I recall the soldier with the stubble from last year - great stuff! Looking forward to seeing you at D2 in October. Philip |

- Fise Filip was so unconcerned with the competition I had to interrupt and drag him away twice from his conversation with Steve to go up and collect his medals ![]() Agreed Stephen it was a great weekend and the standard was way up on last year. A lot of organizing goes on that I'm happy enough not to know about but I do appreciate the hard work people put inRoll on October and D2. Edited by Parkadge, May 27 2013, 11:47 PM.

I was trying to catch the last few moments of Steve's presence and as we've been sitting at the 'back' I couldn't hear a single word from the callers and I am not entirely sure what those two awards were for. I am a bit disappointed with the merging of 2 golds into one medal, but that's just my ego as I couldn't wave with them under the nose of my wife going like 'See this? Ye'? Look at...now where's me dinner and beer ya?' Still... no match for yer 'What's going on, why is everybody quiet?' man. A moment worth the trip to Dubland alone, priceless. As for the show itself, it's incredible what a good venue with enough of light and room around the tables can do with an event. Let's hope that the IMSS folk will look into this venue and move the show from cramped, hot and not-so-easy to get to Dublin castle to Collins Barracks for good. Riding school is a 1st class venue and Collins Barracks are a very appropriate place for show of this kind, in my opinion. Very good show. |

I have to agree, the Riding School is the best IMSS show I've been to yet and much, much preferable to Dublin Castle in my opinion. |
