As the poster above says...

Our branch was holding scale model exhibition every year in Atlantic Airventure Centre just before x-mass to mark Santa's arrival to the venue. The intention always was to turn this regular event into something more, into the real Munster Regionals and we have decided that 2013 is the year to give it a go.

This one day model show in our branch 'home venue' is open to anyone who wish to take part. The competition itself is stripped down to a bare minimum and we would like to create type of show you'd see on the continent. Not aimed on the general public, but centered around the modellers themselves.
We would like to see this show as some sort of modelling retreat from the pre x-mas madness and as an exchange of ideas and skills in friendly atmosphere and in amazing venue rather than revenue generating event.
Although, we'd like to get our money back :P

Comments and suggestions welcome

Oh, Karl, I hope that you don't mind use of your amazing T-90 on the poster :$

Well I think this is a great idea and hopefully it'll draw in some closet modellers from the surrounding counties too. :>

Hopefully, we'll see... It's early days yet and not everything is finalized, but we are trying to make things simple with this one.

Something caught my eye in that poster- the tank in the middle is my T-90A shot from above!!

I don't mind it being used btw, just funny to see it there- reminds me of a weird thing I saw in a copy of 'Figure International'- its quite a prestigious figure magazine, a bit too arty in some places for my liking, but I was browsing through a copy one day and was looking at the 'new releases' bit and there was one from LB Miniatures- a bust of a Big Red One soldier on D-Day- but it was the one I'd painted and was featured on Historicus Forma a good while ago- someone had goofed and used mine as the box art in the mag for the new release- the actual box art was painted by another modeller in oils (it was much better than mine and looked quite different as it was in oils, not acrylics like mine). That was kind of weird to see, I contacted them about it and hopefully they apologised to Laurent, who owns LB Miniatures, for not using the right photo!

Good luck with the Munster show!

Just a quick notice, there's been a bit of trouble with the free hosting webpage, running on-off line on and off and currently it's out of use.
It will be replaced soon enough on the new domain: www.modellingmunster.com I'll keep you posted abot it.

Just as well that I haven't got around to get posters and flyers printed yet...

So it's running, not everything tip-top, nevertheless, the new web address for Modelling Munster is:

www.modellingmunster.com

and for competition:

Just a few of updates on this one:

- most importantly, competition entry form and entry details have been added to the website. We had a brief talk about the best way of how to enter and we have came to a conclusion that we will try to use email and post registration. This should, hopefully, give us some sort of idea how many and what sort of models will be entered and what space/arrangement we will be looking at.
Registration on the day will be possible too though...
Entry form can be downloaded here

- full list of classes and rules are up as well for a while now and they can be seen here

- I have been browsing through some awards and I found a pretty cool one for the Best of Show winner, or Star of the Show as it may be called without giving too much away

- we have decided to bite the bullet and create a trading post as a part of the event. It should be in the upstairs room, where Branch tables and kit-swap were in 2012.
We have only 10 tables, to let and they will be rented to interested parties for a pricey sum of 5yoyos each, we still have to officially confirm this and it will be announced as soon as we'll get the go ahead.
Those will be on the 1st come - 1st serve basis and 1 table per trader, no exceptions.

If you have read the above post, then you could have noticed that we were thinking about setting up a Modeller's Flea Market at the show.
The good news is that we have got the go ahead on this one!

There are only 10 tables available, they will cost €5 for the day and will be hired strictly on first come first serve basis.

1 table per trader to give a chance to as many interested parties as possible and a couple of people can share space of one table, no problem.

The rules are simple, if anyone, trader or individual, will be interested to have a table booked to get rid of some of the accumulated stash, books, paints, magazines, whatever might be useful to other modellers. Let us know.
PM, email - modelling.munster*mail.com, you can book your place during October Nationals if you pop over to Limerick / Shannon Branch table or simply give us a ring.

Movin' on with this one...

We have unexpected interest in the show from traders attending the IPMS IRL Nationals last weekend and we hope to see some of them in Shannon in December. List of traders will be posted soon-ish. Plenty of time for that, still.

Questions I've been asked more than once over the weekend, regarding IPMS members, finances and entry fee:

- Do IPMS members have to pay those 6 euro admission fee?
- Yep, we are getting usage of the venue for free and the admission goes to the owners of the venue in return.

- Any special awards for IPMS members?
- No, not this year. Even though it is official IPMS IRL event, we are trying to keep things as simple as possible. This is the first year and we are gauging interest and feasibility of the competition in the region. Nevertheless, we are open to have some purely IPMS award in the next year, but let's see about 2013 first.

- Who pays for the awards/flyers/and such?
- The whole competition is financed by Limerick / Shannon Branch members without any funding from elsewhere. We are hoping to get at least some money back by charging 1euro per model entered into competition and by renting out tables in the Modeller's Flea Market - that's 5euro per table.

Finally:
Thanks for putting the banner into your signiature and to keep things tidy - here's a code for the 'Modelling Munster' banner:

Code:

...and there's facebook event page alive as well and it can be found on this link here.

Thanks

Finally:
Thanks for putting the banner into your signiature and to keep things tidy - here's a code for the 'Modelling Munster' banner - remove all '@' from the code:

Filip

I have just tried to insert the banner into my signature on another forum but that forum restricts signature images to a max of
400x150 pixels.
Is it possible to resize the banner to max of 400 pixels wide?

FiSe, I edited your post to put your image code into a Code Box so that people can just copy right out of there without removing the @ symbol. Should makes things a little easier. :>

While Mr.Gooogle is working hard for his dosh on FB, I have been busy thinking about the best way of judging the competition.
It must be something simple, easy to do and with almost instant results ^o)

I thought, that every modeller entering the competition will get the opportunity to choose best of show and 3 best, in his/hers opinion, models from each class:
- 1st - 10 points
- 2nd - 5 points
- 3rd - 1 point

Model with most points is the winner, 2nd with less and so on.... a bit of a Eurovision style...

So question for everyone is, is that a runner or do you see any potential difficulties with this system, for example lower the differences between the point rewards or similar?

Any input welcome
Thanks

Looking forward to it Filip, IPMS Cork will be there....

Unfortunately I will be unable to enter the comp, at least not until an internal club issue is resolved, but I look forward to diplaying there. Will there be a diplay only section?
