Officially, we haven't been planning any displays and we have hoped that all the models will be on display on the competition tables, to keep things tidy, simple and attractive for everybody visiting the event... There could be unoccupied table or two upstairs in the 'Flea Market' area, but it is impossible to say at the moment. We will have to accommodate trading people first. Nevertheless, we'd like to be as accommodating as possible and it would be pity to turn someone down. I would say, that we'll see in the morning of 15th. |

...note about competition judging: After a bit more thinking bout the point system and how many points should be given to make the competition more fair and even. I took the liberty and have adjusted the points to more friendly levels: 1st – 5 points 2nd – 3 points 3rd – 1 points That should make it more interesting and more attractive as well. Can you explain a bit more about how voting will work on the day? Only those who enter the competition get to vote, yeah? Will there be an official voting card and I presume only one voting card no matter how many models you enter? |

That's basically it, Pat. Whoever enters model/s to the competition gets the right to choose 3 best models in each class - 1st, 2nd, 3rd - and Best of Show. There will be one voting card per modeller no matter how many items he or she will enter. The card shall be returned to the organisers after completion and they will do the maths as per point system in my previous post. Simple system, which is tested and which should be more time efficient and get people involved as well. Well, it should take any blame from the judges too... |

2 weeks to go, are you getting ready yet? I am back online after a week long struggle with my brand new shiny PC. It's so new that I had to change every component of my ancient set-up to get it work properly. The old stuff couldn't cope with the new 'box', but it's sorted and I am flying now. So yep, everything is under control, including our little 2weeks old fella... |

..and another week gone, which means that in 7 days around this time, the show will be just about to start! Guests will have free use of the museum and organised tours will be in place for all interested in the outdoor display, after all, that's what the entrance fee is all about. Tea and coffee will be available in the venue and McDonalds and 2 hotels are within 5 minutes walking distance from the venue for the hungry ones. Have I mentioned that Santa will be arriving to the Airventure Centre around 1 o'clock as well? |

Some useful tips on how to get there: thanks to Bing maps, to all of those who will be travelling to the show by a car on Sunday. |

Just a little reminder, today is the deadline for email competition entries - and we have a few already. You can enter your models on Sunday morning as well, it just may take a bit longer on the day to fill all the paperwork. |

I thought I had it there, but can't find it, it might have been mentioned in one of the threads floating around the web... So anytime, obviously the later the model is entered the less modellers will admire it and judge it. We are telling people that the show opens at 10AM, so I would say that 12 noon is on the edge of being late. BTW, there's 41 models entered already. 15 of them in junior class - and more to come tomorrow, delighted with the number in this class. Edited by FiSe, Dec 14 2013, 07:38 PM.

...done for another year. Thanks to all of you who have made the effort and dropped in with/or without model in a box. Well done everybody and, hopefully, we'll see yis in Shannon just before Christmas of 2014. Thank you. Some photos should be coming up in next few days, including some statistics, so if you are interested, keep an eye on this thread. Edited by FiSe, Dec 16 2013, 09:39 AM.

Great day today- well done Filip and all the organizers. I really enjoyed it. Great, as Sean Walsh said, to round out the modelling year with a show like this. Also inspirational for the new year. fantastic to see so many entries for the Junior section and the delighted faces on the Junior winners when they saw they were getting kits as well as medals here's some photos unedited and in no particular order flickr album Edited by Parkadge, Dec 16 2013, 11:41 AM.

It was a great day. A friendly atmosphere and a small competition is a nice way to finish out the year. I'll be going again, definitely. |

Right...a bit of statistics, not the biggest show, but that was not our aim. Our aim was to promote scale modelling between local modellers and, I think, that the show has been successful in this regard: Modellers travelled from Cork, Dublin, Co. Kerry, Co. Clare, Co. Limerick, Co. Offaly, Co. Galway Overall there were 79 models on display from 20 modellers, 6 of which were juniors. In junior class 23 models were entered. And the winners, according to all present modellers, are as follows Class A - juniors: - Paul Fitzgibbon, Avro Lancaster B.III 1st - Paul Matthews, Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIb 2nd - Paul Fitzgibbon, 'Crash' Boston III 3rd Class B - Small scale aircraft up to 1/72: - David Matthews, F-100 Super Sabre 1st - Lindsay Brislane, F15-D Eagle, 2nd - Roy McKay, EA-6B Prowler 3rd Class C - Large scale aircraft above 1/71: - Alan Brislane, D.H. Mosquito 1st - Alan Brislane, A-10 Thunderbolt 2nd - Eoin Ryan, MiG-15 3rd Class D - Armour: - Filip Servit, Hetzer initial prod. 1st - Filip Servit, StuG IIIC upgunned 2nd - Niall Aherne, Bergepanther 3rd Class E - Figures, dioramas, busts, warhammer: - Pat McGrath, 'The boot is on the other foot now' 1st - Colin Hamilton, 'Small scale raiding force 1943' 2nd - Filip Servit, Renault UE + 3.7cm PaK 36 3rd Class F - miscellaneous, cars, boats, trains....: - Eoin Ryan, Star Destroyer 1st - Tomasz Poskrobko, Volvo FH12 2nd - Tomasz Poskrobko, Scania R500 Topline 3rd Well done to everyone! And that's it for another year, on behalf of all IPMS branch members and all non affiliated supporters joined under the Modelling Munster banner, a big thank you to all who came, who saw and who conquered the Shannon! Cheers |

You probably haven't sat down and analysed the show yet- what with the other distractions in your life but will you be thinking about rearranging the classes? There were enough ships and boats for a class of their own no?
