hi guys here is my 1/48th ZVEZDA LA-5FN.the kit was not too bad to build, everything went together well, the instruction were a bit off regarding exact location points,of course after i finished it i found a full build review in MAI telling me the plus and minus of kit. decals were very thin so take care with them.

Nice one Steven,
Just a query as I don't know a lot about soviet WW11 aircraft, did they not have decals on the upper wings?

hi Joe most did not for some reason, all the books i have with the La-5 and La-7s show no stars on the uper wings plus the Sturmovik i will be doing is the same.maybe they were saving paint. Over 30,000 Sturmoviks were built thats alot of saving on paint.

Thats right ,no stars on upper surfaces .I guess they didnt want friendly ground fire but assumed their planes were so different to Luftwaffe ones that no chance of air to air friendly fire.Certainly true in early war years...No chance of mixing up TINY I15 or I16 etc with 109s and in fact ALL their planes Yaks etc were really small ...

The history thread is on the build site. I have to admit that I did enjoy my dabble on the "Dark Side".

No worries if it's a bit late - it's a cracking build! Those decals must have been very "challenging" to put on and get lined up.

Congrats.
