Friends, modellers, countrymen, lend me your ears... umm, eyes!

It it with great excitement that Irish Scale Modeller can now announce a confirmed date for the Cork Model Fair 2013! The date is set for Sunday November 3rd so please mark it in your diaries.

Significant event updates will be posted here but, to keep up-to-date with everything going on, please visit the official thread over at the Irish Scale Modeller forum.

Please be aware that this is a trade event (private stash clearance sales, traders, raffles etc) with some serious bargains and excellent model displays but not a competition.

More details, including table charges and booking information for those who wish to sell kits, to follow soon.

Hope to see you there!

Yes, that's true Vincent. On the other hand...maybe a chance to sell off some excess stash, and thereby fund a round of purchases at Telford the week after???

Although the "official thread" doesn't mention it, over on the irishscalemodeller facebook page, it is mentioned that the charge for a table to sell stuff is only €10, and even that a couple of folks could club together to have a table to sell kits etc....

Anyone up for it - we could go down early in a single car and set up and sell.....?

We - members of Limerick/Shannon Branch - have been there last year to support our Cork brothers in arms.

Not a bad event at all, crammed to the roof with lots of modelling stuff from trains to die casts, from plastic to farm models and dollhouses.
The only downside was that there was very little room to move around, but, I suppose, no event is perfect and good and affordable venue is hard to find...
Not sure if we will make it this year as our show schedule is pretty full as it stands, but it could be a good opportunity to promote both, our club and Modelling Munster. I'll put it forward to our branch members and we'll see what can be done about this uber-event...
BTW, is wearing wizard costume, Hobbit's ears or Orks teeth compulsory for the attendees?

Personally speaking, 1st half of November is out for me, I'll be busy nervously waiting for water to break ;)

Thanks for your interest fellas!

@FiSe: If you dress as an Orc or Wizard you'll definitely get in for free! Congratulations to you and your wife... it's just about a good enough reason to miss this event. ;)

Now, just to keep this thread on track...

@Vincent: We looked at the other weekends in November and it's a busy time for events in Ireland. Last year we held it the weekend following Telford and people complained that they'd have no money left to spend (that didn't seem to stop them!). This year we decided to hold it before Telford so at least this way it'll give a chance for modellers to sell some of their surplus stash to make space, and put cash in the wallet, for the the new purchases at Telford. We also have to look at our demographic and that's the Irish modeller in the wider scope i.e. plastic, boats, railway, cars, diecast, RC and so on. I would think that 95%+ of the modellers in Ireland don't make the pilgrimage to Telford so we have to cater for those folk staying at home. It's a shame you can't make it but it is a very worthwhile trip should some of you decide to share a car from Dublin for the day. Guys were seen last year coming away with more models and bargains than in Telford. It's all pot luck really. Plus it's a great day out for all the family with lots of displays and Christmas gift ideas.

To give you all a taste of the event, here is the coverage it received in the Evening Echo last year:

There has been some fantastic interest following the announcement and the tables are being snapped up fast! Outside of the private stash sellers already booked up, the following traders have confirmed their place...

Studio Scale Models
Model Rail Baseboards
Dublin Model Shop (Walshies)
Max Decals
Michael Morris Card Kits

For those of you wishing to sell kits then tables are €10 each and you can share with a buddy if you don't have too many kits to sell. That's €5 a man making it a cheap way to off-load some models.

If you want to book a table you can contact George via email (georgenorman70(at)gmail(dot)com) or via mobile 087 986 3158. Or for those of you already on the Irish Scale Modeller forum you can just PM him there.

Cheers!

Just to keep it simple... IPMS Ireland Limerick/Shannon Branch will, unfortunately, not be able to make it this year.
We had a browse through our diaries today and work and family commitments don't allow us to be present on this event. The big trip to Telford plays a big part, as many members had to reshuffle their shifts, juggle holidays and days on/off to make it to IPMS UK Nationals and, as a such, can not be in Cork this particular weekend. Next year hopefully...
Good luck with it and all the best.

Gentlemen,

The Cork Model Fair is now completely sold out! The latest confirmed traders are as follows:

RB Productions
Detail Matters
William Britain's Collectable Model Soldiers
Shamrock Miniatures

Places have been snapped up in record time and already it promises to be an even busier show than last year with two rooms crammed with modelling paraphernalia.

Hi folks,

I've been talking to George re: the Cork Model show and I'll be manning the IPMS spot at the show. The good news is that I've a good few models to display, the bad news is that the club will be reliant on my questionable modelling skills to promote the club. If any other IPMS members are in town, I'd appreciate it if you could bring along one or two completed models to boost the quality of models on display.

Last year I sold a shedload of kits and with the money raised I was able to but me a 1/32 Tamiya P-51D (which is still only half built, by the way).

In my enthuasism I also brought a carload of military and/or modelling books which I didn't sell a single one of! Steve Culliton instantly regretted volunteering to help me carry them back to the car. @ Steve, I'm not bringing any gd books this year!

@ Filip, good luck with the impending new editon but also with King Brian as well!

See yous all in Dublin real soon,

Eoin

Eoin - that's great - glad someone local is showing the IPMS flag at this big event.

I have booked a trader table at the event there with George as a personal "private venture", with the intention of selling off some of my 300+ stash (or at least those I will want to part with, whatever SWMBO may say.....). Some of the other Dublin lads are coming down with me to share the table, so we will see you there. I doubt that we will have space to bring kits to display, but you never know. We might discuss over the D2 weekend........

Cheers,

Philip

Hi 35th-Scale,

Only saw you post earlier tonight. Here's the code for the banner, though it may be a bit late with only a week to go. My bad! Thank you for your support nonetheless. :)

Code:

[url=http://irishscalemodeller.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1811][img]http://irishscalemodeller.com/_images/corkmodelfair/banner2013.jpg[/img][/url]

The above code is ready to copy'n'paste into forums and will give you a nice standard sized banner like so

Posted Image

The (very big) banner you found is not the one for the Cork Model Fair but for a completely different event, county and month. :D

A couple more late trader announcements:

All Scale Models
Model Scenery Specialists
