Here are a couple of photos of the Aviation Fair, held at the end of November.

Unlike in previous years, this one was not held in the ALSAA premises, but in a nearby hotel off the old Airport Road. Like in previous years,
I had taken a stand to publicise the club. I took the opportunity to off-load some of my own kits as well - not enough to cover the cost of the
table (€25), but at least to cover the petrol cost (there and back from Naas). Also present were club members Don Whittaker, who kindly
helped out manning the stand during the day, and Ray Flynn (Ray was doing a good trade in his own surplus kits at another trader table).

The show was a lot bigger, in terms of space, than in previous times, but the public throughput was much lower. (Apparently there was a rugby
match on that day, which may go towards explaining this....). This was a bit of a pity, as the venue is nice. Much more publicity might have
helped, of course - there was little enough of it to be seen in the weeks and months coming up to the event. (Perhaps we might offer the lads
the opportunity to publicise their event in 2014 at our own Irish Nationals...?). This is a general view of the main room:-

Among the traders was Joe Maxwell:-

who was selling some very nice decals (including his new fouga set), as well as the Fouga book and some kits.

Also to be seen was Paul Kolbe, selling some of his aviation photographs, mainly in calendar form:-

I bought a couple of kits from Paul during the day (he had a small selection there).

There were other traders' stands, mostly selling a variety of aviation items:-

The IPMS IRELAND club stand was in an annexe, just as one came in to the room, so was well visited during the day. Apart from the surplus
stash that I had for sale, I had a small display of (familiar) kits, including 109's and some allied subjects, as well as leaflets about the club.

As you can see, the kit display was mounted on mirror glass tiles, as I find that these help folks to see the undersides of the models (and thereby
helps to obviate errant hands - though in truth, there was little enough of this). However, the end result of using the mirror tiles, coupled with the
downlighters in that part of the hotel function room, was that there was a rather nice silhouette projected onto the ceiling, which many commented on.

Overall, this is a small little event, but one that allows the club to "show the flag" every year. I got a couple of membership queries this time
(and handed out membership application forms), and in the past have got membership renewals, so it is worth attending.

Thanks, Paddy

The bar behind me was, unfortunately, closed while we were there (9.30 am till about 4.30 pm).

However, there was a bar downstairs in the hotel which was very busy, especially during the afternoon of the rugby match.

Anyhow, I was driving back to Naas that evening, so could not partake (though there were some traders who did!).
